French Onion Pork Chops

The Classic Taste of French Onion Soup on a Pork Chop

Ingredients

  • 4-5 ea pork chops, 3/4-inch thick
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 large onions , sliced into rings (brown, yellow or white)
  • 2 garlic cloves , minced
  • 1.5 Tbs 25g butter (or olive oil)
  • 1 tsp oil , if needed
  • Salt and pepper
  • 1 cup beef broth/stock , low sodium
  • 2 Tbs flour
  • 4 slices Gruyere Cheese
  • 1 tsp Finely chopped fresh rosemary leaves
  • Additional Ingredients
  • 1 Bay Leaf
  • 1 sprig fresh thyme
  • 1/2 cup red or white wine
  • 1 Tbs worchester sauce
  • 1 splash cognac

Arrange all the Ingredients:

  1.  Chop one onion – cut off both ends, and slice in half.  Take each half and slice clean through to make half moon onion rings.
